my vegan birthday potluck

5 years ago this month I became vegan. (Interested in my story? How it all vegan? Get it? began/vegan. Shout out to Kendra. She wrote that in my vegan birthday card . ;)) Since I've become vegan, I've dreamt of have a holiday that was purely vegan. I've always wondered what it would be like to have a completely vegan Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. Since October 2009, the holidays have been more and more vegan friendly, but not completely vegan. I have always just wanted a feast and have all of the options be available to me. :)

This year I decided to celebrate my 5 years of being vegan by hosting a vegan potluck. I am so thankful for my friends who attended and provided all the yummies. The crowd favorite was Grace's red velvet cupcakes. I made my popular buffalo cauliflower. (Interested in the recipe?)

Everything was so yummy. The lovely evening included great conversation, cornhole, playing with my dog Timber, dancing to N SYNC and BeyoncĂ©, oh and stuffing our faces.

Thank you for everyone who came out! I loved eating your food!

  1. Bah! This is the cutest, sweetest thing I've ever seen. I'm so glad you were able to get together with good friends and do what everyone should: totally pig out. Everything looks way too delicious. I can't wait for the buffalo cauliflower recipe! Happy Vegan Birthday :)

    1. Thank you, Zoe! I had a really good time. I can't think of a reason why I shouldn't host one next year. ;) Hopefully I can get the recipe posted next week. Need to measure everything out!

  2. Yum, it all looks so good, I would love the recipe to buffalo cauliflower. I made my little crew try vegan for a few weeks but it was a no go. With farm life, we kind of live on fresh cows milk, eggs and meat. But, at least it's all home grown and I know exactly whats in it and where it came from;)

    1. I will definitely post the recipe for the buffalo cauliflower. :) (Blogger Secret: I was going to work on the post on Saturday... but I got lazy. Does that happen to you? Haha.) I'm interested in posting all of the recipes, we'll see! I know I wouldn't be able to post the red velvet cupcakes recipe because my friend's friend generously gave her the recipe even though she bakes those cupcakes for her business. They were SOOO GOOD.

    2. I can't wait for the buffalo cauliflower recipe! And I hear you about blog post planning....I was supposed to do 2 posts this past week and that never happened---sometimes life gets in the way!
Does your friend who makes the vegan red velvet cupcakes have her own bakery? Because if so, I am putting that on my list of food places to visit if I ever get to LA!

I got more info on my friend's friend. She lives in Seattle! It doesn't appear to be a storefront, but here is their Tumblr. http://madbattercake.tumblr.com/

    1. Stuffed peppers don't come to my mind very often, but I'm glad Keith suggested them. His were way too spicy for me though :( Yogurt would have probably helped!
