wwafwd? // what would a french woman do?

Inspired by this post, I began to think about how French women's mannerisms differ from American. While reading, I was slouching in my chair with chips on my nails. Something I can assume a French woman wouldn't do. I'm not saying that I need to be perfect 100% of the time, but it's the little things I can change.

1. My outfits for work can be a little more polished and thought out. I seem to be always rushing out the door, so I don't put a lot of though into my outfit or accessories.

2. I can reserve work out gear for when I am actually working out. I can't imagine a French woman going grocery shopping in yoga pants.

3. Standing and sitting up straight. (I've been trying to remind myself to do this a lot lately! It will also strengthen my core muscles, so that can't hurt.)

4. Take off my/repaint nail polish when it starts to chip.

I could make this list a lot longer but that can become overwhelming. What are somethings you think you could change to be a little more polished?

  2. I'm so inspired by French women. I agree with your entire list! There are so many little things I could do throughout the day to give myself a little more polish. Something I've been aiming for lately is wearing PJs/loungewear that are a little more elegant that my usual dirty old sweatpants and T-shirts from high school. I've been investing in nice PJ sets and good quality leggings and T-shirts for when I'm relaxing around the house. It's a little thing, but it makes me feel just a bit more...ooh-la-la? I love this post!

    1. I kind of got on a roll with painting my nails consistently. They're currently unpolished but I want to paint them tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by Lizzie.

  5. I read Brooke's blog post too and I have to say I didn't really agree with it. I am originally from France although now living in the UK. Leaving my country has definitely opened my eyes as to what's typically French and looking uber polished isn't really "us". I think we are very low maintenance compared to some other countries. Very simple outfits too. I will agree to the fact that we look well put together most of the time because that's because we dress with a lot of basics. But funny fact, I'm here typing with chips on my nails too! ;-) xx

    1. I can totally see your point! I love how French women can pull off basics and look effortlessly cool. Sometimes basics just make me look plain. Thanks for sharing your point of view!

  6. Your blog is so cute and I just moved to EU from CA and can definitely relate to what you're talking about. I walk around in work out pants all the time and it's definitely not something I've noticed is popular here. Also whenever I go to France the style is very put together even if it's basic and monotone. :)

    1. Thank you, Dale! I was thinking about that earlier, my perspective is from a Californian perspective so I guess it's not necessarily 100% correct, but I'm glad you agree. I can't wait to go France next year! Congrats on the move, that's awesome!

  7. I have to say I agree with most of the things on your list! I'm currently sitting at my computer hunched over, wearing spandex work-out pants, and chipped nails...not looking my best this Sunday haha
Recently though I have been putting more effort into doing my makeup everyday, and changing up my look bit. And I find that I feel so much better & put together when I do my makeup. Now I just need to learn how to do some cool hairstyles instead of either wearing my hair down & plain or up in a pony tail.

    1. Thanks, Tiffany! I feel the same way. Since I've posted it, I've already gone to the grocery store in my workout gear. Can't win them all, but you can definitely think about it! Thanks for visiting.

  9. Haha this post is funny, that's actually true, I could never go out wearing sweatpants. I also don't go outside in my garden in my pajamas to put the laudry out for example, I just can't. I may be a little crazy too, I have to admit. I will not talk about makeup though because I will pass for a complete freak hehe.
