I've been on the hunt for the perfect backpack. It seems very important to me lately. This morning on Pinterest I ran into this image with no link to wear it came from. I started to research for any information I can find about these North Face backpacks. The only information I could find is they're only sold in Japan for hundreds of dollars. Humpf. WHYYY?? Not fair. Does anyone know any alternative or have seen these backpacks in the states?

I've been eying these two backpacks below for a couple of months now. I REALLY want the Urban Outfitters backpack, but I don't know if I can commit $68 to a backpack...

Something I do almost daily is check out A Cup of Jo. I love A Cup of Jo. I have been following Joanna's blog for years now, experiencing her wedding and first child through her blog, I feel somewhat virtually close to her (like her other hundreds of followers). Last fall, I read this post about Brooklyn-based Haptic Lab. Very intrigued, I continued to check out their website. Amazing quilts! Their custom quilts are beautifully made and would make a lovely wedding present. Loving what I saw, I signed up for the monthly quilt giveaway. & in January, I won! After deciding what colors and city I would like, I decided on a green backing and Los Angeles. So just this past month I received my free Haptic Lab baby quilt of Los Angeles. I love it, it's very unique and it makes me proud to live in Southern California. I love the little stitching of different important parts of Los Angeles. Since I don't have baby, and no plans to gift it to a baby, haha, I plan on hanging it on my wall. :) Thanks Melinda and Emily!

A Dino & A Cacti

So here are two of my most recent purchases. Sunday was the semi annual Patchwork - Indie Arts and Crafts Festival here in Santa Ana. It is a very awesome craft fair that has been around for the past 4 or 5 years. There is one in Long Beach as well. They have one at the beginning of summer and one right before Christmas. The Christmas Patchwork really comes in handy to find some presents. This Patchwork I went to Lexi Lee's A Tiny Little Bit booth & I got this little dino I've been eying for years and a no hassle cactus. ;) I decided to get the cactus because I've been struggling in the plant department, BUT I do plan on starting a little cactus garden. The dino is now my little friend on my futon and my cactus is next to my beta fish's tank.

So it's been pretty hard for me to get used to this hair. IT'S SO DIFFERENT! Not only that, but I'm having to figure out how I want to style it. Today, I thought I had a hour to get ready this morning which in reality turned out being fifteen minutes. So I threw on one of my fedoras and looked like this:

Today was the first day back at school since I got my hair cut so I was kind of reluctant to how people would respond, especially since I didn't do anything to style it. The responses where I looked like Madeline (the cartoon character), high fashion, and a French New Wave actress, Anna Karina. Wasn't sure who Anna Karina was, but after my research, I learned that it's a compliment that REALLY boosted my confidence with this cut. Here are some photos of her:

I want to style it like Alexa Chung and have the length of Jessica Lowndes hair. I'm pretty excited to have this cut for the summer and to really change things up. So I decided that for my greater well-being I should cease procrastinating projects that I typically procrastinate on. So, I need to stop procrastinating doing my schoolwork (which I am currently procrastinating) and more importantly currently, I need to stop procrastinating updating my blog. Which one do you think is more important? Ya, I thought so.

I'm wearing a dress from Forever 21 that shrunk in the wash, so what else is new? It's rather short so I must wear it with tights or only wear it to the beach, which makes it being so short more appropriate.

Let hope I'll continue to not procrastinate updating my blog :)

During my search for vegan cosmetics I found that e.l.f. cosmetics are vegan and fortunately extremely cheap. One of my favorite products of theirs is their nail polish. I've current tried the colors pictured, and I'm a huge fan. The polish last for quite awhile and every bottle is only one dollar. The next color I'll buy is Mint Cream. :)

During New Years weekend Keith and I took a trip to Georgetown, CA to celebrate his 22nd birthday & the holiday. Took the long lovely drive on the 5 and arrived at the American River Inn. Random? Yes. But I found it through Living Social Escapes (something you should really consider checking out), they give you great deals on trips. We got a two night stay for $150, not bad!

Georgetown is northeast of Sacramento and essentially is in the middle of mountains and has the population of 962. The American River Inn is a refurbished miners inn right on Main Street. When we arrived we were shown to our room by Ed and Maria, husband and wife owners of the inn. The hospitality was extreme. Within being there for 45 minutes, our room was upgraded without charge. Honeymoon Suite. We went from a room with the huge comfortable bed taking up the whole room, to a room with a bed, desk, dresser, sitting area around the fireplace and bath.

Started our night with going down the mountain (30 min) to Placerville to have delicious sushi and sake. Basically the best sushi night of my life. It has been more than a year since I've had sushi because of becoming vegan. Amerikan Ichi Sushi had plenty of vegan roll options, which made me a happy camper.

Then celebrated the new year at the local saloon. It was rather amusing watching the crazy inebriated people and playing PacMan. We then woke up the next morning to new year snow. :) Then went to Sacramento to look around. It's nice to see the capital- too bad it was closed. We also went to Old Towne Sacramento, which is something to check out if ever in Sacramento, a lot of different shops.

The last day was kinda a bummer. 11 hour drive in the rain and snow that was suppose to take 8. Geez.

But we had a blast, just wanted to share.

This past Saturday Karissa, John, Keith (& Timber!) and I took a trip to Hollywood to take a hike at Runyon Canyon. The views of the LA area were amazing. Obviously many people love this trail because it was packed (you can see in the first photo how packed the trail was). It's a moderate loop trail going up hill & back around (with other forks that you can take). Dogs are more than welcome to be trailblazers & can have their leashes removed when you enter the trail. Timber loved saying 'hi' to all of the people on the trail. ;)

After the hike we took a trip to Doomie's on Vine St for some grub. Doomie's vegan food is absolutely uh-mazing. I got the fried chicken that came with clam chowder, coleslaw, a roll, & some potatoes. Yum! After I had some fried Oreos. Oreos are vegan! Learn something new everyday! The other dishes pictured are the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, the Philly Cheesesteak (eating by John who couldn't believe it wasn't steak; which made me really happy), and the Asian Chicken Salad. Doomie's is definitely a place to dine at but make sure you bring cash, because they just moved to Vine St and don't have their card machine working yet.

The Free People October '10 Catalog was just recently released & two of my favorite bloggers modeled for it, Natalie & Rumi. I absolutely LOVE the styling for this shot. Isn't this the best Snuggie you've ever seen? (; It's currently been overcast and gloomy for the past two days here in Southern California. It seems that the day after Labor Day marks that summer is OVER. If I had $68 to spare on being comfy and cool with this, I'd take it! I'd love to be curled up on the couch, drinking tea, watching Netflix Instant Watch, and being able to walk to the kitchen without having to worry about fumbling to keep my blanket wrapped around me.

Palm Spings 2010

It's been so long! I've been so busy taking little trips, like this one to Palm Springs (and to Temecula Wine Country, for my anniversary) & I've been so busy with volleyball (practicing 6 hours a day!) that I've been so busy and exhausted to update. These are photos of a weekend out in Palm Springs at the Ace Hotel. Amazing place to stay. They provided complementary mud face masks at 11am which felt so good baking in the sun. They also have a connected restaurant called King's Highway which had AMAZING water- haha, any water is amazing in 100+ degrees heat. And we ordered burgers, avocado sandwiches, and a veggie pot pie. A very friendly place to stay- met a lot of really nice people.

Since the epic day of turning 21 I've been trying different types of mixed drinks. Mix drinks that I know I love are sangria and margaritas. Recently I've tried a Mai Tai at TGIFridays and a Long Island ice tea this past weekend- and they weren't working for me (granted, my boyfriend claims that Mai Tais are really good, it was probably just the type I had). This, though, has not stopped me on my quest to find mixed drinks that I like.

& thus, Magic Juice.

Doesn't it look soooo good?? I've been meaning to make some of this magical juice for quite some time now- and I think the sooner the better. I haven't yet tried Gin, and I'm a little leery because I've talked to people who flat out don't like it...

My girlfriends and I are getting together on Thursday night to watch the season premiere of Project Runway & have some cocktails, perfect time to try it right?!

So it came & went... my 21st birthday. I wore this lovely dress from Delia's that I have fallen deeply in love with. I also got the best birthday gift in the world this past Sunday, a beautiful Schwinn World Tourist 10 speed bicycle from Keith. My sister & my dear friend, Karissa provided my guests & I a yummy vegan chocolate cake and vegan red velvet cupcakes for dessert. Such a lovely night.

Tombstone

Tombstone kind of reminded me of Knott's Berry Farm. It's a tourist trap, so if you don't want to spend money on horse-drawn carriages, pay to watch a fake gun fight, or go into "museums" then there isn't much more to do than go shopping. A lot of the shops sell the same things, so it got kind of boring. But stopping in Tombstone was worth it just to experience it. I recommend it. Just stay clear of the bees. I got stung!

I'm still on the road (we're slowly making our way back from New Mexico). Just visited Bisbee, Arizona today. It's such an awesome place. They have a co-op grocery store, a natural goods store, and it's just a really chill place to be. It's a town built on the hills right off of the 80 freeway, kind of reminds me of a rural San Fran. It's worth the stop. We are now staying the night in Tombstone, Arizona. It's a touristy western town, which equals endless fun! (slightly sarcastic, but optimistic)

Going to update more about the trip later on this week (hopefully get an outfit post! It's been awhile), but until then there's always the Twitter!

Eat, Pray, Love

I don't think I've ever been so excited for a movie to come out. This trailer gives me goosebumps every time! I had to watch the preview twice in a row this morning (to make sure I was posting the correct one) and even though I watched it within a 5 minute span, I still got goosebumps the second time. Hehe. (; I finished the book for this film about 2 or 3 weeks ago and I'm thinking I should take a trip to the bookstore and pick up her sequel to this one titled, Committed, to read while I'm on my trip to New Mexico. I'm leaving on Friday & I don't know if I'll be able to stop by the blog before I leave. I'm so excited!

I need to broaden my shoe horizon. As of late, I've been a flats and gladiator sandal type girl. I'm not really drawn to sneakers. (Sometimes when I put mine on I feel like a boy. I should probably just wear them with more feminine outfits.) Last week though, I tried on these navy Keds and fell in love. I've always been a fan of Keds, but up until last week I had never put them on my feet. Unfortunately, I am on a loose spending hiatus... So I will wait until I allow myself to buy them. I'm also crushing on these Converse. I was an avid Converse wearer when I was in junior high. I owned so many different colors and wore them to death (especially my red and black pairs). I'm really digging this pair because the sole is petite, making it less bulky. I also enjoy how it comes in gray, I gave up on my very colorful Converse days.

Just last week I watched a documentary called, Annie Leibovitz - Life Through a Lens. It was about Leibovitz's life which was literally lived behind a camera. It was an amazing documentary that left you with a smile on your face. I wasn't very familiar with her work before watching this film, but at one time or another each of us have seen her iconic work whether or not you knew it was photographed by Leibovitz. These are some photographs from her career at Vanity Fair.

PS - Fun fact: I learned from watching this film that the actor who played Aleksandr Petrosky in Sex in the City, Mikhail Baryshnikov is a extremely famous ballet dancer. I had no clue!

Have you seen these?? $198 for a J. Crew beach tote made from recycled sails. If only I had two hundred bucks to throw on one of these babies. I don't even know which one I like more. They're huge and durable, two features I NEED in a beach tote. I go to the beach often in the summer, and I bring a lot of stuff because I bring my puppy with me... I bought a huge beach tote last summer but the seams are already falling out. (The seams started to fall out after I ran it through the washer and dryer.) I can't image the seams falling out on one of these.

H&M

A new H&M has opened within biking distance of my house. I took a trip over there on Memorial Day to check it out. Packed, of course. I didn't expect anything less. My initial intention was to find a new swimsuit for summer (& maybe find that sleeping bag and tent from a previous post) considering that H&M is selling their swimsuits for so cheap (!). After orientating myself in this H&M's many rooms, I found 2 or 3 suits, none of which I liked. And on top of that, the line for the fitting room was so long, I didn't have the patience for it. So, I decided to check out the accessories and this is what I came up with.

The purse I got is very very tiny. Only large enough to fit my phone, keys, and my tiny wallet. I love it. I bought it because I figured it would come in handy at parties and such. I always wanted a turquoise ring, and this was a good place to start. The bracelets I have been lusting after ever since I went to H&M when I got that blue skirt. They remind me of the southwest, especially New Mexico where my brother is living now. And last but not least, additions to my earring collection. I'm really enjoying the elephants.

Have you seen this yet? Refinery29 did a feature on "Go West With Our Road-Trip Essentials". It's so beautiful it makes me want to cry. I love everything about it and it's making me really excited for my trip to New Mexico at the end of June. I really really really love H&M's Fashion Against AIDs Tent and Sleeping Bag! They're both only $12.95! That probably means that they are of poor quality camping wise, but who cares when you look fashionable, right? I'm sure the tent would be just fine for mini camping trips in my backyard with my puppy. (; The only issue I have is, it's in "select H&M stores." Translation: they could be anywhere! Have you seen them??

Don't you hate it when you get in a rut when making new outfits? It always helps to have a new garment to help you out. Keith bought me this H&M skirt on Saturday. Love. I also inherited this lace sweater from Teresa's wardrobe. I think it gives any outfit a little something, don't you think?

So I'm in the market for two new maxi dresses for my trip to New Mexico this summer. I found these pieces on F21, of course. I know most of you can figure that I make my shopping decisions weighing a lot on the price of the garment (hence me always shopping at F21, Target, sales at UO, etc). So the first top 3 dresses on this list are the cheapest, and the last two are in the $25-$28 range. Considering that I want to get two dress, I'm thinking about either getting the Knit Basic Maxi Dress with the Tribal Maxi Tube Dress OR getting the Knit Basic Maxi Dress with the Floral Phase Maxi Dress. What should I do? Which one do you like more? Thanks for your help ladies!

I'm starting to feel that I need to spread my horizons with my blog. When I initially created this blog it was solely going to be a fashion blog... Well times are a changin'. Inspirations and things that are pretty should be the theme to my blog... I guess people call those types of blogs lifestyle blogs? I digress. Anywho... I took a trip to Cubic Dreams & got completely inspired about my future home. I was directed to Ikea Family Live. I'm currently crushing on this featured home. It's a huge one room home with enormous windows for a ton of light and the opportunity to see all of the nature surrounding. With all of the natural light shining in, you probably don't have to turn on a single light until dusk. And there's so much space! Perfect for my future additional doggies.

Leaving Orange County...

First stop of the trip, Berkeley:

Lots of book shopping in Berkeley.

Second location, San Francisco:

Time spent at Haight and Ashbury.

Boba drinking and walking in Chinatown.

City Lights Bookstore and publishing house. This is where authors like Jack Kerouac, and Charles Bukowski have had books published.

Lunch in Chinatown at the Loving Hut. Delicious.

Going down Lombard Street.

The bay area was so much fun. (: Upon arrival, it was craziness because we had to catch all of our forms of transportation on time, which lead to running from plane to bus and running from bus to train station. We finally had time to eat lunch so we had Thai food and Boba in Mountain View. I was my first Boba drink, soooo delicious. I had the mango flavor.

We then went book shopping in Berkeley. I got Eat, Pray, Love for $5. It has been adapted into a film that is staring Julia Roberts, which I'm excited about. I figured I'd test out that idea of reading the novel before watching the movie. Haha, we'll see how that works out.

San Francisco is so gorgeous & so diverse. I went from hanging around hippies and stoners, to Chinatown, then to the coffee shop hipsters, and then back to Chinatown all in one trip. I loved it. When we were in Chinatown we went to this restaurant called the Loving Hut. It's an Asian vegan restaurant at a great price. I had the Chow Fun with Soy Jerky. Mmmm. (: I had never heard of this restaurant prior of coming to SF, apparently they have locations in Orange County too. So excited, I'm going to make a trip over there soon.

Ahh, I'm torn. So as we all know I NEED new shoes/flats. So I've been checking out what UO has on sale in the shoe department and I ran across these babies. They're priced at $9.99, originally $28.00 and then with s/h they are $15.99. Not bad right?? Well I NEED second opinions before I take the plunge. I like that they're black- I'm always wearing black flats. And I like how they have ventilation. It'll come in handy with the warmer weather. SO! What do you think?? Thanks for the feedback!

Tonight I'm hitting up this art show at The Camp. Sounds like a great way to ring in the first full weekend of Spring. They say this show's focus is on "the theme of Springtime and the concepts of growth, nature, & renewal." Perfect.

I've been eying this cardigan for awhile now. And guess what? It's on sale! But alas, I am not spending any money at the moment. Humbug. Isn't gorgeous?? It's my attempt to wear less black. It's not very "Spring's coming!" piece but I would love to have it in my wardrobe. It would be great to wear with denim shorts and a white tank while shopping for fruits and veggies on Saturday mornings at the farmers market. (; I hope it's still on sale once I get off this hiatus! So I hopped on the bandwagon with i heart kiwi to go on a spending hiatus. I pretty sure that her goal was 2 months of not spending money on all the extras- like clothes, trips to get coffee, things like that. I'm going on my hiatus for a month. The month of March- UNTILL I go on my trip up north at the end of the month (San Fran/Palo Alto), that's where this spending hiatus comes in handy. & on this hiatus, I tortured myself by visiting Urban online to check things out. (Those e-mails that they send out always get you!)

So here are some of things I'm hearting in the apartment section of the website:

1. Ceramic To Go Cup - I've been wanting one of these for a loooong time. 2. Bottle Opener Key - How it's a bottle opener isn't the appealing part, I just like large keys. 3. Glass Facet Ring Dish Jewelry Stand - Love that blue. 4. Recycled Beer Bottle Glass - I like the label for Rolling Rock, I've never even tried it. Ha

Flannel - Arizona Jean Co., Dress - Lost, Belt - Thrifted, Tights - Target, Flats - Target, Ring - F21, Earrings - F21.

So I made a trip down to Forever 21 because I needed to scratch that itch for new shoes. I tried on the Vinyl Huarache Flat & I didn't like how the strap down the middle looked on my foot. Then I tried on the Lattice Heeled Thong Sandal in two different sizes but the "latticed" part looked baggy on my heel. & I found one Distressed Metallic Flat but I couldn't find the other. I was Cinderella in F21. & they had the Studded T-Strap Sandal, but not in my size. How depressing!? Shopping is suppose to be fun! But I didn't leave empty handed, how can you? Impulse jewelry shopping at F21 is a must! So I bought this pictured "love" ring (ignore my unpolished nails!) and arrowhead earrings.

Lately I've been parting my hair in the middle as oppose to the side. I'm really liking it. What do you think?

I don't know if you've noticed but practically every outfit post involves my favorite black flats. I literally wear them everyday. I had such a lovely Valentine's Day having a picnic in the park with my love & our puppy. We spent our time watching a ladybug go up and down the grass blades, laid in the sun, ran around with Timber and ate pre-made food from Whole Foods. Yum! I wore one of my favorite dresses from JC Penney along with some vegan black heels from The Camp. And as of late I've been using a little Victoria's Secret black over the shoulder purse.

My weekend started out hanging out with my boy and pup on Friday. Then on Saturday we made our way to LA to do a little sight seeing. We started with Little Tokyo. Then we went downtown. Hit Olvera Street where we had a lovely Mexican lunch. Then headed up to the Hollywood Walk of Fame & checked out all the stars. (On the ground and the fake ones walking around.) (:

I love LA. It's such a crazy place, but I'm glad to be back in Orange County. Less crazy.

I have FINALLY made it to my 100th post. YAY! Took me loooong enough.

I also just realized that I have failed to post my photos of my trip to The Getty. (I went 2 Fridays ago.) I'm sure most Southern Californians know about The Getty, and for all the other people out there, I'm sure you saw it featured in last season's Project Runway. & if you didn't see it there either, its a large art museum that looks over the city of Los Angeles. Very beautiful. My favorite part of The Getty is their garden. It's so peaceful and beautiful. I went with my younger sister, Ashley, & my dear friend, Dee Dee.

I was wearing Leather Jacket- Forever 21, Black Tank- I don't know where that is from, Floral Skirt- Forever 21, Tights- Target, Flats- Target, Belt- don't know where that's from either, Necklace- Cookie Lee, Purse- Thrifted.

Okay, so I'm done bragging about how great the weather has been in Sol Cal. It's been pouring rain for the last couple of days and now I need start layering. After putting this outfit together I said to my sister, "Don't I look like I'm a French girl in France?"

She responds with, "Yes"

I say, "Too bad I'm a French girl going to work."

Sister: "Ya, not the same."

Me: "Seriously."

I would like to introduce you to my new necklace - it comes with a story. My dearest friend, Teresa & I love the movie Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (1 & 2). After we went to see STP 2 we had a great idea to have a traveling piece of clothing as well, because Teresa was moving to Palo Alto to attend Stanford, whereas I live in Orange County. So we decided on getting a peachy/purple colored American Apparel sweatshirt. So after about a year in a half or so we decided we didn't like how this sweatshirt fit us anymore and it was getting kind of old(ish). So we needed to find an alternative. We decided on a traveling necklace. The benefits of a traveling necklace are 1) It's small so it fits in an envelope which saves on shipping & 2) it's cuter!

So after about a week of searching for a new necklace, last night at Urban I found the beauty that I'm wearing today. Love it.

This was the outfit I wore the day pre the hair dying adventure. It was great for the weather we've been having. After taking these exact photos, was the time I realized that my hair needed a change. Yuck.

You can't really see my "Spirit Beads" (it's the blue bracelet farthest up my right arm), but I wanted to share what they mean. I got them from my friend, Dee Dee, who visited the Grand Canyon this winter break. They are apart of the Native American culture and have about the same meaning of a dream catcher. They're worn to protect you from evil spirits. I need all the protection I can get.

I'm loving the fact that it's January 11th, and therefore winter, but it's 75 degrees in California. I heard on the news that 2/3 of America is freezing up. I find it funny how us Southern Californians are floating around in beautiful spring-like weather & everyone else is freezing.

Today was a pretty laidback with going to work and going to the Red Cross to donate blood. & a laidback day calls for a laidback outfit. I don't know if you've looked into this but the "sleep shirts" for Victoria Secret's PINK collection are way to comfortable and classic to just wear to bed. They're 2 for $22 and I love mine. They're an easy "I don't know what I want to wear today" tee.

This necklace I'm rather fond of. My boyfriend gave me this beaded dream catcher from his uncle whom of which made it. I tied it onto a chain and wah-la! a beautiful necklace that I absolutely love.

& as of late, I've been dying for a menswear watch. So I found myself looking through my boyfriend's watch collection and found this nice, waterproof watch that he had when he was younger. I was all over it. I told him, "Can I borrow this forever?". Haha. He doesn't wear watches very much, or at all for that matter, so he let me. I didn't have to resize it or anything because it was already resized for his wrist when he was younger. I love it. I had to replace the battery, but I've been wearing it everyday since.

I haven't been that big of a fan of the "bib" necklace, but this piece has definately changed my mind. It's a customizable necklace from returntome. In a world where we sometimes all look like Forever 21 clones, it's nice to have something that matches your personality perfectly. Way out of my price range, but what isnt? Easy DIY, right?

My lack of posts is due to being in Big Bear, CA for about four days. So beautiful! This was my first time interacting with snow for YEARS. There was snow on the ground for all of the days, and on the last day I was there it snowed! It's the first time I've seen it snow.

Today I'm off to the Mojave Desert to ring in the new year and visit my grandmother. I love how in California you can go from being in the city to being in the mountains to being in the desert all in the same week.

Hello All,

I got my circle scarf in the mail on Monday! I was really happy to recieve it in the midst of pouring rain. It keeps me so warm! I also recieve a cook book I ordered and the new issue of Nylon all in one day. A good start to my rainy day.

I also bought these new boots from Target. I love them, a real confidence booster. BUT, there are a few people in my clan of friends and family aren't too found of them. What do you think?
